Brighouse
brass band
Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band are undoubtedly the best brass band in the world, with a rich and successful history stretching back over 125 years.
Calderdale Council thought it fitting to commemorate the work the band does representing Calderdale through out the UK, Europe and the USA.
A piece of work was commissioned for Brighouse’s most prominent roundabout situated at the interchange of Bradford Rd, Huddersfield Rd and Elland Rd.
The design celebrates the two of Calderdale’s most famous exports Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band and Marshalls (the UK leading manufacture of superior concrete and natural stone).
4 eight tonne boulders quarried from Marshalls local quarry, were sand blasted with the logo of the band and face each approach road of the roundabout, with a taller central stone inscribed with musical notes representing the bands signature tune The West Riding.
The design was developed by Richard Binks of Calderdale Council and Marshalls natural stone.
